This was a multiple lesson hand for me from last night's tourney. I post it with the hope other newer players find it helpful.
1) Was very unsure if 3s shows s and club stoppers and partner was looking for heart stopper or if partner had spades and D and did not want to make a neg x without hearts. This is the kind of thinking we newer players go through at the table that saps our concentration
2) I choose 4s and partner now bids 6D at MP.
3) D lead and K pops up on right.
4) trick two rho shows out of trump.
5) Now LHO has long clubs and long trumps? To make a long story short between thinking about the bidding, looking at partner's hand, and trying to figure out what lho is bidding on and why they did not lead a stiff I lost my concentration. I got as far as knowing the J of h and j of s will not drop but did not count my 11 tricks and start thinking about squeezing RHO.
Most of us newer players have read often about count/visualize and concentrate and do not think about last hand or the bidding in this case. But it is one thing to read about it another to practice it at the table. Enjoy!
