Hi!
Scoring: MP

bidding so far:
1 2(wj) pass pass (with hesitation)
??

Do you make another move? Btw: you play with a partner who is a bit depressed at the moment and passes whenever he can :)

Looks like Dbl. Perhaps play with more agressive partner. I personally hate making overtricks after I overbid.

3D from me. If you transform one small diamond into a heart, then the double is clear.

Doubling now places too much confidence in partner having a stack of spades. There is a big danger that partner would be 4=3=3=3, and pass our double, or 3=4=3=3, bidding 3H, or 3=3=3=4 when he wouldn't know what to do, and could become even more depressed. Depending on what caused his depression in the first place he could even become suicidal or homicidal after this hand :)

But passing is even worse than doubling. First, partner is extra timid, second, it's MP so another move from us should be obligatory.

Partner could even have 5 spades, and 2Sp could still make. I once witnessed a disaster when partner opened 2D(multi), doubled 2Sp from LHO because she had 6 spades, and opps still made it +1 with 4:3 spades.

Double, and nothing else really occurred to me as a possibility.

Dbl

3 could be weaker and partner can still have penalty of 2

Yes, you should reopen with a double whenever:

a) it is a possibility that partner may have a penalty double
:) you would have sat for it had partner made it

Both a and b apply, so I bring out the x card

pretty obvious X. Short spades, support for unbid suits, I even have extras (though not required).

Double, might miss a but I have little extra's and if pd decides to pass, we will have nice score.

If pard is not in best shape, I bid 3. Not going to put him to the test by embarking on a difficult defense of 2 X.

Passing is really not an option. I don't care whether partner is having her menopause or whatever, you cannot pass here.

Double, if partner passes then we have an easy defense, don't we have more defense than partner can expects? Usually partner won't have the penalty pass though, unfortunately.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

Double !
Are you really unhappy if partner converts it penalties?
If P bids 2NT, you now have an easy 3D bid, which was where you would've been had you taken the other option.

I prefer 3 over dbl. my defensive perspective doesn't look great with 6-card of s.
