double or bid?

yes Yogee, one hand proves everything. X and hearts is fine.

why is it that the better a poster is, the less likely he is of patronizing the others? I'm very glad that this is true, but it's still an interesting tendency.

I'd love to bid 2 but it is simply too risky.

Partner will have 8 or 9 points and no heart fit too often and have nothing to say. So we risk missing game.

2NT seems a perfectly reasonably alternative to the double and 3 suggested in the opening post. I will try that.

Kxx,Kx,xxx,Kxxx?

He can raise, can't he? But this is about he worst hand, I can construct without a bid. (Ok, KQx,x,Qxxx,Kxxxx is bad either)

With 4 or more spade, he can bid 2 Spade, with a stopper he can bid NT, with clubs clubs....

I don't want partner forcing with 3 with 8 hcp.
