Hi Mauro!

I solved this by
-> clicking on VIEW
-> disabling "show full tables"
-> enabling "show empty seats"

That's exactly how you are supposed to do it now. You use the View menu to select what you want to see. Use it in the Main Lobby to filter which members show up and in Bridge Clubs (including the Main Bridge Club) to filter which tables show up.

The view I like is show empty tables (so I can find a place to play), and show tables with friends and "champions" (so I can find a place to kibitiz). Then the hundreds of full tables that I am not interest in disappear.

Right Mauro - the old sorting mechanism has disappeared. It looks like we are forced to filter feautures out replacing option to be able to see what is on. - Some day they will need to reinstall the old feature sorting acc. to empty seats. Thats the way to do it.

You are not "forced" to do anything. Go play on another
site if you feel like you are being forced.

Similarly, I don't feel the "need" to make any design
changes just because you think a particular way is "the
way to do it".

Some design decisions we make have disadvantages as
well as advantages. We don't make any decisions unless
we think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

If you really want me to explain why we changed the way
people display tables with empty seats I will be happy to
do so, but I do not appreciate the tone of your post. We
spend a lot of time, thought, and energy trying make and
implement he best design decisions that we can. Of course
it is your right to disagree with our decisions, but your post
makes it sound like you think you know better. Again it is
your right to believe this, but it is possible to express this
without sounding so arrogant.

Sorry Fred - no offense intended and I am not aware of an unproper tone here. Maybe the words in a context means something else than just the translation of the words.

Of course new features may sometimes cause old excellent features to disappear. I dont know and I really think the price for this is very high here.

When I use the word 'forced' it means it is nearly impossible to handle main club without filtering out tables already full. If you want to see if a table to kibitz is on - you need to change your filter settings. I dont do so myself and very soon I think we will just see fewer kibitzers.

If you want to see if a friend you dont have marked as friend is there - you will also need to scroll down trying to let your eye catch recognizable ID's - but first you need to change your filter settings. I have many friends I have needed remove friends marking for mostly because they disturb me logging in several times with poor connections. It would be very helpful to have 2 groups of friends - one with with log-in notification and one without.

No features have disappeared. You can still display tables
with empty seats if you want. The only price you pay is
having to click twice (instead of once) in order to change
this setting. In my view this is a very small price to pay
for all of the advantages that the View button has to offer
(not to mention reducing the number of button in the main
bridge club list so that there is room for a traditional chat
area at 800x600 resolution).

You make it seem like it is a big burden to change your
filter settings. I think you will find that as you get used to
the View menu, it will become 2nd nature to use it.

I actually think we are going to see more kibitzers (not less
as you suggest) as there is now an easy way to show all tables
where stars or friends are playing.

Fred, you may well be right in your assessment of all relevant factors including "behind the scene" factors not available to the user. But on the single statement of fact in your assertion that "no features have disappeared" I beg to differ. Previously you could group tables by the number of empty seats. Now you can group tables by whether they are full or not full, but no deeper division is possible. That was possible. It is no more. That may be a necessary cost of advancing the software, but a cost it undoubtedly is, and one that I as just one Joe Public user may assign greater weight to than you.

Yes, basically it seems to me there is only one lost option: to be able to sort tables by empty seats, rather than simply *display* empty seat (together with other tables with friends, champs, etc).
In fact, since people are so quick to fill empty seats, I used to sort tables that way to see very quickly, at glance, which tables had EXACTLY one empty seat, or looking for exactly 2 empty seats for me and my pard.

However, this is nothing compared to the many functionalities the new BBO client has added, thanks Fred and Uday ! ;)

Right Fred I see it in the same way as you. But my problem is - and I know many has the same problem. Either to disable notification option for friends logging in or to turn them back into blue. I have chosen the last one - not a nice option but before I often scrolled main club for friends in blue. I no longer do so. Pity - 2/3 of my friends I have in this way.

What I am interested of is not the stars. Only few of them - and those I have turned as friends.

the 800x600 resolution I dont understand. On my screen I think there have been no changes regarding chat area since the bubbles disappeared - something like a year ago or maybe more. Maybe some options I dont use? I have 4 lines in lobby area and 8 in table area I think. - Have I missed something here?

I hope you will be right about kibitzers - because kibitzing is an important part of the fun - the social life you may call it.

Sorry Claus, but I don't understand what you mean when
you try to describe a problem involving notification of
friends logging. Please clarify.

Sounds like you have more than 800x600 resolution.

People with 800x600 (at least half of our members) still
saw chat bubbles when they were in the lobby or main bridge
club up until the release of 3.6.5.

With pleasure Fred. I hoped to be able to paste the picture in here - but it looks like I first then need to create a GIF-picture for that and then upload. I hope we can manage without.

In profile you have a button: 'Friends/Enemies'. When I enter that I come to manage lists for that. Just above the button 'close' I have a checkbox(which I have checked) called 'Notify me when a friend logs in'.

This is an excellent feature - similar to say hello to a friend meeting him on street. But sometimes it can be too much with many friends - some you want to have contact with - some you will be interested just to kibitz - some you have an agreement with for a talk later. Right now I have agreements for contact with 2 in a month or so - they are looking for some literature for me. Such sums up very quickly. With all the many friends with poor connections(Eastern Europe mostly) who needs several attempts for connection and who also often suffers from disconnections - you simply need to put some of them back into blue. Else you can do nothing else than saying hello and close the login-bubble.

I also like to be able to keep track of some of the many persons who responds to my adverticings. It is very difficult to handle this smoothly and in the same time trying to be polite and pay attention to the efforts of others.

I know very well I am a bit more aware of this kind than most. I don't ask for any special features. These 2 kind of friends list has been asked for by several in more threads. I think I am able to manage - but it is difficult.

Thanks for clarifying. I understand now. I will
give this some thought.
