IMPs, All White, Second Seat

void Ax KQJ87x AJ7xx

(1) - 1 - (1) - P
(2) - ?

1 includes all 15-19 balanced hands.

Your plan, and after LHO bids 4?

3 and then I'm done, I have always played rebidding opener's minor is natural by the overcaller and frankly it seems to come up all the time.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Yes 3 shows my values and hand nicely. If I X 4 and they make an OT and PD leaves me, it won't suprise me and if I bid 4NT for pick a minor and go for 500+ and 4 may be down if declarer missplays or missguesses that won't suprise me.

3 and 100% pass after their normalish 4

I know that I would overbid this hand in practice and bid 4. I get in trouble for that stuff. Well, at least I feel better about passing if 4 come back untouched.

No, you just always feel better about not agreeing with anyone to post earlier in a thread.

3C now, and then pass over 4S

While that may be a bonus sometimes, that's not a particular motivation here. I would not be surprised if 4 is not a ridiculous overbid. I was actually impressed with the discipline to bid this thing 3.

Hence why I noted that 4 is an "overbid" and that "I get in trouble" for this stuff. That tends to actually support the two posts in front of me rather than to disagree. I'd venture that this hand is somewhere between a 3 and 4 call, probably close to 3.

I'd like 4 a lot more if the diamonds wewre KQJ97x and clubs AJ108x.

Yeah it's funny I said that in this particular thread when there is really no obvious answer. I don't even think 4 is that big of an overbid, my main problem is that it overstates the clubs, so I guess we agree on that.

Bidding 3 over 2 seems like enough on this hand.

IMO
  • Over (2), 3 = 10, 2 = 8, _X = 6, 4 = 4.
  • After _P (4), _P = 10, _X = 8, 5 = 2.

3. I don't think I'd 4 this even with better club intermediates.

Give me 5=6 in the minors and then I would bid 4.

Canape? Weird. I mean, sure you might have 5-6, but why? 1 was artificial.
