I hid the thead "Kick out the james (trolls)" in the Water Cooler. It was in violation of Rule #1 in the Water Cooler Rules thread: "No personal attacks".

Technically so but surely not malicious and mildly ironic? Not sure what punishment comprises but hardly merited. At least one of the targets took it in good part and scored a humorous response.

Someone took offense and complained, seemed best to nip it in the bud before it turned nasty.

Removed a reply in the "Unfair treaded" thread that identified the offending TD and players in the tournament.

Sorry about that... I named the host, not the offending tournament director.

In private tourneys they're often the same. I don't know if that was the case here, but better to err on the side of caution.

You also named the tourney, which would make it easy for others to find these details (nothing we can do about them searching as diligently as you, unless I remove the whole thread, which doesn't seem warranted).

Lurpoa's posts contain a few harmless . Posts of some other nominees are less aesthetically pleasing but much more offensive.

This post is funny. Who do you think processes reports?

Which is probably why you shouldn't be mocking people...

I've tried for a long time to keep things with Lurpoa private, but she's made it extremely difficult.

And I thought my "most heart-broken" suggestion was mocking myself.

The same reason I also edit out all the blank lines you put in your posts: they're unnecessary and make the posts harder to read.

This is the last word on the subject. I've told you in private that I've held off on banning you from the forum, and Inquiry has already given up on dealing with you. If you continue to argue about this, I will ban you.

  • Off-topic: moderators seem to allow gratuitously offensive posts. Surely, then, It is fair to allow posts with harmless embellishments. Flashing emoticons are more annoying than a few suit symbols but I wouldn't ask that the former be banned. And as for banning those who argue .... :(
  • On-topic: and on a more cheerful note, I second Barmar's nomination of Lurpoa for Most Big-Hearted Poster :)

More likely we just haven't read them in the first place. We don't read all the forums, so we rely on people clicking the Report button to let us know about offensive posts.

I have moved most, but not all, of the Lurpora related post from the posty Award nomination thread to this thread.

I see that I was mentioned in that thread, where barmar correctly stated, "and Inquiry has already given up on dealing with you." This has drawn me into the discussion.

Let me start by saying this is true. I refuse to deal with her, or answer (or even read) her private messages to me, or to edit or approve her post. Let me start by saying that I am an unpaid volunteer on this forum, and have been for nearly a decade. I don't have the willingness to put up with dealing with her over and over again on non-issues. So I simply decided to ignore her after a very frustrating series of private messages. For the record, ignoring any member is not good form for an administrator so I offered to step down as an adminstrator on this site due to my decision to ignore her as if she was dead a few months ago. My offer was rejected, and I left all lurpora related dealings to the other adminstrators (primarily barmar). I guess having responsibility alone for dealing with Lurpora has gotten to him as it has gotten to me.

I also suspect that Lurpora might be refering to me when she stated that "
Too bad I cannot report you on this: the great Inquisitor took that away from me. (see the posty thread). " I didn't actually take anything away from her, other than the ability to vote for post and the ability to get me to respond to anything she post or private messages she sent to me. She could report anything she liked, and rain, barry and maybe others might act on it.

As for the "deleting heart" issue, that is a red herring. I will not go into the details of my past dealing with her as I suspect most, if not all of that stuff should stay private as per our TOS, but the deleting hearts is really not the major problems here.

I think one of my posts was deleted, or I'm going nuts?

Naturally it was not posted here, can whoever did so please post here? Isn't that what this thread is for?

I hope it's not a problem if I ask for clarification: is this thread supposed to contain all moderator actions or just those actions that the moderators see fit to talk about?

The former. Sometimes we forget to mention things but we try to avoid that.

Yes, I removed one of your posts. It was making fun at the expense of a (former) poster, and I didn't think I could explain it without naming them and potentially compounding it. So I hoped I could get away with silence about your relatively trivial message.

It was a factual statement since I was downvoted 50 times, it was not intended as a joke or to make fun of anyone. But ok, whatever, thanks.
