The US courts have granted civil and criminal immunity to all members of the Sackler family from future lawsuits related to Oxycontin. Sadly, the socialist Courts extorted almost $6 bn of restitution costs from the Sacklers.

I almost feel sorry for the poor things; they will suffer when they lose around 40% of their entire wealth!!!!

As an 84-year-old, I heartily agree with this. There are many things that I can still do, at least reasonably well, but the office of president of the USA ? I am perfectly fine with saying that I am, and at 75 was, too old for that task regardless of what I might or might not have been able to do when I was, say, 50. Aging hits different people differently, I get that, but still... , Being able to mow my own grass is different from staying on top of the war in Ukraine.

Wow. I never realized he was that old. One of the curious aspects of aging is that old keeps moving further away, at least the discerning of it does.

Another problem with OF's being in charge of anything is that their concerns are things they were passionate about 50+ years ago.
The 1970's seems like a period full of novelty and excitement to a 70 year old, but the Vietnam war is over.
The current crop of altekaker's are driving the train off the cliff because they don't have the perspective needed to switch tracks and lack the insight to see the need.

we still have a cold war do we. off to the bunkers

I'm seeing this as a good example of what has gone wrong. Simple discussions quickly turn to accusations. Gilithin said he would like to see the next president be younger than 75, I hopped in and said that as an 84-year-old I agree. To me, that's common sense. But then we can't seem to leave it at that.

We OFs are stuck in the 70s. We turn it on and off at our convenience. We are hypocrites. Etc.

It's hopeless to launch a defense against such charges so I won't.

I see it as obvious that it would be better if our next president is 50 instead of 75. That's not the only criterion of course. But 50 rather than 75 is a plus. That's simple. And being a hypocrite is bad whether you are 75 or 50 or 25. That's also simple.

Age is most likely why I remember John Kennedy so fondly. What I'm uncertain of is whether it was my age at the time (12) or his youthful presidential look. Either way, I would prefer a someone in the 50-60 age range, old enough to have life experiences wihout being so old as to have the experiences be rusted.
