Round 2, Board 4 Not nearly as challenging as I thought

Scoring: IMP

West opens 1♦ (natural 3+), if North passes east responds 1♥. West rebids 2♥ if South passes and uses either a double or redouble to show 3 card heart support. East=West go to 2♥'s if necessary to avoid playing something doubled below that, but do not bid above 2♥.

I had thought the diamond opening bid might cause problems, but it did not. Quite a few people even overcalled with North's hand 1♠, which made game really, really easy to bid. Because so many got willy-nilly to 4♠, I lowered the value for 4♠ to only 8 out of 12


Note, i forgot to mention I rotated teh hands hands for these displays. the hand shown were bidded as NS hands.

at most tables?
It's our auction and I saw it duplicated by one other pair, looks like kinda automatic auction too.

Another variation my partner chose to overcall 1♠ with the south cards rather than double.

It was hard for me to admit I did it without typing "lol". In my defense, I know we likely won't end up on defense so he won't be making a bad lead, and I know gib plays the 2♦ rebid by me natural, and if it comes to it I know he doesn't play the sandwich 1NT as natural, so the situation was relatively well suited to make this particular terrible bid.

It seems that you have to do strange things to qualify with Cascade too.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn
