Of possible interest: http://stats.stackexchange.com/faq

What kind of questions can you ask here?

This site, called CrossValidated, is for statisticians, data miners, and anyone else doing data analysis. If you have a question about

statistical analysis
data mining
machine learning
data visualization
probability theory
statistical and data-driven computing (e.g., questions about R, SAS, SPSS, Stata and Minitab)

then you're in the right place to ask your question.

There are certain subjects that will probably get better responses on our sister sites. If your question is about

Programming, ask on Stack Overflow
Mathematics, ask on math.stackexchange.com
Bugs in software, ask the people who produced the software

Please look around to see if your question has already been asked (and maybe even answered!) before you ask. It's also perfectly fine to ask and answer your own question, as long as you pretend you're on Jeopardy: phrase it in the form of a question.

I use the sister site stackoverflow.com for programming questions. It's decent.

What next? bridge.stackexchange.com?

Thanks. The math site is quite a grab bag. Some questions are homework from calculus students, others are challenging and thought provoking.

Just what I need, another time sink.
