Playing SAYC we bid: 1S - 2C - 3C - 4S - All Pass

The heart finesse was off, the spades broke, and we made 5.

1. Is there a better sequence, one that at least sniffs at slam?
We play that 2NT is Jacoby, and that 3 of a minor is Bergen.

2. What is the percentage chance of success for 6S?

sayc places a lot of emphasis on fast arrival, it seems ... doesn't 3nt show 15-17 with maybe 3 card support, in sayc? i don't remember...

anyway, i think a lie has to be told (if responder wants to look for slam)... trouble is, no lie (except 2nt) will both force to game and show spade support... so assuming he judges his hand worth a slam look:
1S : 2NT
3D : 3H
4C : 4NT
5C : 5 or 6S

i don't think this is a good slam, but i've seen worse... i don't see a squeeze, so the % is 50 (unless i missed something), so maybe it is worth a shot vulnerable at imps

If anyone should look for a slam it is South.

He has a 5 loser hand in a double fit auction where partner has forced to game.

eg It is not hard to imagine 6♠, 5♣ and an ace.

First of all its ok to miss 50% slams.
Now to the bidding, it depend on your 3c style, there was a discussion here about it, and it turn out 3c show exta, in this case north 4sp was too weak, if 3c shows extra then 3sp should be forcing, and north should bid it, then south cue bid 4c, north 4H, south should ask 4nt here and bid 6sp after the response.
If 3c is a weak bid then i would still make it, now north has a problem, 3sp wont be forcing, now i think north got no choice but to bid 4sp which south should pass.
Two different methods would lead to different contracts, 6sp or 4sp, and intrestingly both those contracts are good.

I am the worst knower of sayc, but on alll the 5 card majors I´ve played (most based on french standard) supporting at 3 level by opener is game forcing.

If 3♣ was GF, then a 3♠ bid would had been forcing as well. That coudl drive to slam.

looks a pretty clear 50% slam at start, but you may substrract a bit for a 6-0 ♣ distribution and 7-0 ♥ for about 48% or so.
