3. I'm more worried about pushing the opps into game than going for a penalty.

Pass, I have no extra offense but good defense. Partner's cards may also be well positioned. The matchpoint jackpot +200 is even possible.

3 seems like a probable Law violation.

On a diamond lead, I won and shifted to a trump. +100 was a 34. +200 would have been a 71.5. If they let us play 2 (or you choose to bid 3), +140 is a 59.5.

Maybe a reality check.

Same at my table FWIW. Why do you mention +200, did you consider doubling lol? There is nothing wrong with doing normal things, the opps did slightly well, and you get 34 %. You don't need to crush every board.

No, don't need to crush every board, but it seemed like our opponents were taking away a lot of our A+'s and giving A-'s. I posted these to see if there was anything I could have done personally on the bidding on a few of these hands.

Against 3, if they start with three rounds of hearts and West pitches a club, you have to draw two rounds of trumps exactly before playing clubs to avoid a club ruff. Then East wins the club and leads his last trump and you have no entry to dummy's long club so lose a diamond at the end for down one.

I have no idea if its normal to bid 3H here or not at MP. Vul against not. What would other people do?

I would certainly bid 3H.

I would certainly bid 3 on that hand before I would 3 on the other hand

I bid 3H, 3 small spades ftw. I remember feeling somewhat screwed that they shifted to a trump at the time, lol.

I remember this hand now, I shifted to a trump after a diamond lead too. What a lousy score :(

Is it just me or is a diamond lead weird with AJx xxx J9x QJxx on that auction?
