You get the K of spades lead on your left (count), with RHO showing what appears to be an odd number. LHO follows with a club switch. RHO plays two top club honours, LHO playing high low. You safely ruff and play the 6 of hearts, LHO following with the 2.

LHO is a solid player, RHO is a known "operator". You are known to both the opponents who respect your bidding and play.

What'll it be? Are trumps 5-0 offside?

I think playing for trumps 5-0 is lunacy. I expect LHO doubled because he had AKxxx and a doubleton club, and perhaps a trump holding where he hoped for a promotion. RHO played for his legitimate chance of beating it, which was to find the clubs 1=2 rather than 2=1.

Think of it as a probability problem: is it more likely that LHO fatuously let the contract through for no gain other than bragging rights, or that he made an aggressive double and then defended normally?

If trumps are 5-0 you're not making it anyway as E appears to be 3046 so where is your third spade going ? You make 9 also by playing J and endplaying W with his 5th trump to give you Q.

Play for 4-1 and the diamonds breaking.

I upvoted that without thinking about it properly.

If you guess whether RHO has J10xx or Hxxx you have a strip-squeeze against him - two trumps ending in dummy, diamond to hand (forcing RHO to split if he has J10xx), cash trumps coming down to three diamonds and a club in dummy, diamond to dummy, club exit.
