BBO Skill level How best to know what level you and others play

BBO collects data about the results of every player for every hand.
BBOSkill can tell you what your skill level is based on these results

Why doesn't BBO dictate/control the skill level of each player and take the silliness out of the self selection thing? It is frustrating, useless and often unfair.

Any suggestions?

BBO writes a bit about this issue in the faq:

It has come up many times on this forum. A google on

site:bridgebase.com rating

gives 651 hits, most of which are threads about whether BBO should implement a rating system.

Because BBOSkill is fundamentally flawed, and there is plenty of historical evidence that any sort of assigned/visible player score is a complete cancer to a playing site. (See: OKBridge, death and irrelevancy of)
