"It's only when a mosquito lands on your testicles that you realize there is always a way to solve problems without using violence!"
"Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say."

Maybe 553 starting on my left? Although in that case righty might reopen with x instead of 2♦.
Anyway, I will also choose 3♣.

*** Like-minded. How will partner ever believe I have both
red stops and a source of tricks, if not 3Nt?

Regarding whether to try 2H or 3C, I probably would have chosen 2H at the table; it sounds like the partnership choice, but on reflection it probably won't accomplish anything in this case except to give those other two guys more information.

I am not keen bidding 2♥ when holding a void in spades.
North-South are probably not playing negative free bids and their fit could still be spades.

And this is why you should help them find their fit ! It's a greek gift!
Pd will be waiting with 4-5 spades behind the long spades, when you hold tons of defensive values. But you can sit and try to construct hands where
-Opponents misbid their hand or did not have the tools, and now found a superb fit
-And it turns out that my obvious 2♥ bid helped them to find it.
-And then with all these tricks in my hand + worst trumps break for them, was not enough to punish them
Jesus !
You must be really depressed! You need to get out of bed with better attitude

*** And we're cheap against their game, ain't we if all that conception is true?
Further, partner can go 4C - certainly cheap when all that bad stuff happens.
You can disagree because of the worst possible outcome, but source-of-tricks plus stops is obvious.

North led a small diamond, ducked to the K, and S switched to AK and another spade; after that I wrapped the rest of the tricks. I have no idea why south doubled. I didn't really consider 2♥, but I still think 2N is a better call because I am not worried about the diamond suit - I think 2N should show an upper-ranged 2♣ call with diamond and heart stoppers, which is what I have.
