Any tips on how to expose psych?

Got a funny hand today in a random free tourney on BBO. I was playing with a semi-regular partner. We did have some system agreements, but nothing on psych.

Any way we could have avoided being screwed up on this one (we were EW)?

You can abide by this rule: "cue of opener's suit = ART, cue of responder's suit = NAT". Doesn't always work ok, but it's fine in like 98% of the cases.


On this particular hand West could have bid 2♠ (nat, 5 spades, 18-20 or thereabouts), after which East has an easy raise.

If west was going double and bid spades they must still do so even when LHO bids 1S.
