Vulnerable vs. not, MP , 3 here shows 2 suited hand, hearts and clubs.
Having this gadget, do you bid?

If you change the vulnerability or scoring does it change your answer?

To be kind, I wouldn't even do it at NV vs Vul

I would hope that this gadget comes with a partnership agreement as to the strength required at various levels and vulnerabilities. I also hope, like the other posters, that the agreement does not include bidding on this particular hand.

Why should I let the other side declare double dummy when they inevitably buy the contract?

There's nothing in this hand to recommend making your side's initial competitive bid at any vulnerability.

Anyone making a bid with this hand at the 3 level likely has a deadly desire to accumulate telephone numbers.

The only bid you might consider is a raise if PARTNER finds shows a rounded suit.

I'd not dream of it either.

It's nice to have gadgets. I have a gadget here called Michaels to bid 2 to show and a minor.

However, it is often best to find reasons to NOT use a gadget rather than to stretch to find ways to use a gadget. Having 4 HCP and two lousy suits in a 5521 hand certainly gives me more than enough reasons to not use a gadget.

Yes, perhaps the score was entered improperly for 3X down 7 vulnerable :P

To be kind perhaps it was Kathryn's PD who bid 3 here or who was seriously considering it.

Thinking about using this convention on this hand is about as awful as the convention itself.

You'd need a 1NT = lolish 2-suiter here to bid.

If partner bids 3C and I'm holding the North hand, I'm bidding at least 6 and checking for 7 along the way (void KQxxx Qxx QJxxx?). Passing first will probably land you in 5C.

Bidding with a two suited yarb r/w is very bad. Its not just because we are volunteering a number but because we don't rate to buy the hand and we are telling declarer how to play the hand.

Absolutely 100 percent no. At no form of scoring and no vulnerability.

No, and it's not even that close. I would think you'd need at least about 10 HCP to make such a bid vul with that distribution.

Apparently in practice you don't need to bid, as pard will come up with some club bid later and you can raise.

1S (P) 2S (3C)
4S (5C) ????

Looks a likely start to the auction. No idea where it ends up though.
