When I have a spotty internet connection I often don't know whether I've been disconnected from BBO or one of the other players is slow. Is there a trick to figuring it out?

If you're using the web interface, there's a connection quality display at the top right. It shows 1-4 bars (like a cellphone) and also the quality in text.
