Presumably (11)12-14 balanced or something. Otherwise, that seems like quite an important hand type that's missing.

I think 1 is one or both minors and 1NT is 12-14.

Looks playable but I miss an opening for a non-solid 7-card in a minor and less than 11 points.

Hi, welcome to the forum! I'm a great fan of MOSCITO and I've played it a lot in the past. Here's my 2 cents: I don't like it as a whole. I don't think it's an improvement to the base structure of moscito 2005, which is already 10 years old!

Don't like:
- 1 opening, either play "15+ any" or make sure the balanced range a little bit stronger than the unbalanced range. A balanced 15 count is worth a lot less than an unbalanced 16 count, while an unbalanced 15 count is a lot more similar to a balanced 16 count.
- 1 presumably (semi)balanced 12-14, why make one of your best preemptive openings forcing?
- 1NT: it's too high and overloaded, how can responder respond properly?
- 2: too easy to miss a distributional 4M contract when you miss a massive fit
- 2: if you're going to play multi with strong options, then you might as well add some more strong handtypes as well, for example with minors or 2-suiters. But better would be to just play mini-multi imo (no strong options).
- 2NT/3m: bleh!
- 3NT: a standard gambling 3NT is already very rare, so when are you ever going to open 3NT if you need AKQJ for a 7 card suit?

Note: I guess there's a typo and 1 shows minors while 1NT is balanced 12-14. Still, 1 is overloaded and no longer promises a suit (original moscito promises 4+), which limits your abilities to raise opener

I like:
- 1NT if it's (semi)balanced 12-14: great preemptive weapon

Mixed feelings:
- 1M: on the one hand, it's useful to know which suit is longest after your rebid. On the other hand, one of the strengths is to raise agressively without knowing if opener has 4 or 5 card M. This strategy is very powerful and you lose it.
- I wonder if you have full relays available for each limited opening

Hi Frederick, what's the difference between MOSCITO and Moscito2005? I have a link to Marston's description of the latter, but do you have one for the former?

Moscito is a general term, a type of system that evolves, while Moscito 2005 was specified by Paul Marston in the year ...euhm... 2005 if I remember correctly ;)

Similar to Polish Club and WJ2005 for example.

ok. btw, do you remember the continuations for 1C-2H (showing 4S/5+H) after opener rebids a misfitting 2N? Or maybe Richard has notes for that...
