IMPs.

Questions:

1) What sort of hand is canonical for P here?
2) Had you passed and P had bid 5, what hand would be canonical for him then?
3) Do you agree with your X?
4) What do you think your X shows here (or should have shown, if you wouldn't do it on this hand)?
5) Do you raise now?
6) Would you raise him now had you passed initially?

I strongly disagree with my DBL.
Having a flat 7 hcp is not what this double shows.

Yes what was I thinking during the first round? I need around another K for the call.

So lets say I pass.

Partners 5c is rather interesting. He didn't x a 2nd time which is what I'd expect holding four spades or a takeout typ hand. He didn't bid 4N. And he didnt jump to 5C initially.

Im putting him on Axx x KQx AKQxxx. 6C is pretty good across. AQ xx KQx AKQxxx? Would this hand take this line?

If I doubled first, a hand this good should just bid 6c itself.

1. Five-card club suit, singleton heart. Doesn't need to have extras since you doubled. Something like AQxx x Kxx KQxxx seems normal.
2. If I had passed, partner would usually pass or double. The 5 bid will be a strong flexible hand here (like AQx x Kxx AKQxxx might be a minimum and could be better).
3. No. My shape is okay (although 3244 would be more ideal) but my double should show a better hand.
4. Should show around 10 points, normally without four spades or a long minor. Not really penalty but expect partner to leave it in a lot without a 5-card suit.
5. No, my double already oversold my hand.
6. Tough one -- I think raising is percentage even though there are hands where it has not much play. Depends mostly on whether partner's slower values are in diamonds (good) or spades (not so good).

Modest builds on Phil's thoughts -
Agree this hand not worth the initial double. Lacks about a useful K.
I'd expect that partner's 1st double strongly implies/communicates 4 cards. The 5 bid now suggests 5-cards, likely 6. I think AKxx x KQx AKxxx or AQxx x Kx AKQxxx are distinct possibilities - partner was warned off 4 by our (inappropriate) double. Note, partner would double a second time but our double interfered with better communication.

Having the canonical difference be a 4-card holding makes sense.
Be the partner you want to play with.

I always thought this double card showing, around 10-ish with no good bid available.

My questions are about opponents.

Can we assume (semi)-rational opponents?
Unfavorable for them. Surely West didn't bid 4 expecting to go down two.
East should have 7 hearts. Then West expects to make 3 tricks outside of the heart suit.
If so, 5 isn't making. Although sometimes tricks in the side suits on offense
disappear on defense. I suspect at best 5 is a iffy contract. Should be pleased
West didn't double.
