MPs, you're vul, they're not (and they're experts)

I think it was at an EBU summer congress where a presenter described 4441s as Anna Kournikovas (looks good but rarely wins). What do you make of this one?

Your basic system is Acol (4cM, weak NT). Not playing Walsh style by responder.

Not a system I'm comfortable with, but double seems appropriate.
In hearts you have some muscles, unlike recent Anna.

Playing this system, double should show a strong NT strength hand but unable to bid (usually because no stop). I double (but would alert rather than describing as takeout). This does not deny or confirm four hearts.

You might have downgraded and opened 1NT, but having chosen to value as 15, double looks obvious.

Sharapova was (meldonium) Kournikova couldn't fix her fitness issues.

X for us shows 4 hearts and doesn't promise extras so I do that.

Thanks all. Seems X is the popular choice. Partner opted for a 2H reverse and I got rather excited with my AQx x AJTxxx QTx, figuring even some minimums give me play for 7C. It continued 2S-3C; 4C and partner passed :-( Not a wise idea in a pickup partnership, should have just bid 3NT.

2h was a gross overbid. double would be sporting enough. i'd just pass.

I strain to open 1n with 44 majors see no good reason to avoid that tendency with this collection. My hand has gotten worse as the bidding has proceeded with the potential dia misfit. Do not wish to encourage p with Ax xxx AQxxxx xx any more than I have to so PASS.

I'm doubling with this hand.

K was of questionable value when hand was opened. Now that partner has bid , it has regained some value.

Double should show the 15+ hand as with the minimum unbalanced hand, I would think opener would pass or simply rebid 2 . Is it worth the 15+ shown by double? I'm not sure, but think it's close and will be aggressive here.

As gszes indicates, the hand could be a misfit. With spot length limiting partner's length, it also could be a hand with a good rounded suit fit. In any case, the hand's values are virtually all in primes which should be useful no matter where we end up.

I'm experienced at K-S but not Acol. I prefer the agreement that pass shows this hand (or one more diamond and one fewer heart). It does put a lot of pressure on responder, but responder seems to be able to handle it fairly well almost all of time.
