I don't know why GIB switched to the third best diamond at trick 2. Proper lead is 4th best.

Humans do it too
Of the 40 people on lead in West against 6♠, 6 failed to make a trick.
Plus 19 out of 64 in either East or West against 6NT.

In the example I gave, if you asked 100 novice bridge players, all 100 would cash the ace. 100 pros, too.

BBO fixed it by put a statement they if such a situation occurs on opening lead cash out
but the underlying reason why cashing the setting trick is not consider the best option was never addressed.
