(2nd at red...and we are not used to open flat 11-counts, even though this one is probably worth an upgrade; with some 10-9s in the suits, I’d have gone for it)

LHO bids 3D, partner Xes, RHO passes again (not too much to guess from that). Too late for regretting the initial pass.

Can we bid sth intelligent now (other than 4S), knowing partner may have only 3-cd support for our suit?

We can bid 4 and then 4 over partner's 4. I think this must show this hand, with five spades we would just have bid 4.
