How do you sub a red player using an iPad?
Is there a guide for Directing using an iPad?

We dont generally recomment directing or using advanced features on mobile devices., because they have a simplified interface which was not conceived for power users. However if there's an emergency and all you have is a mobile device, then you can access all the directing features through the Director screen. Director -> click tourney name -> pick your choice from the dropdown.

This is not scalable for an actual tourney. It works ok for team matches but generally is not a recommended way to "work" when you want to use BBO to direct a tournament.

But how do you choose a person to sub using a tablet? Many tablets are bigger than some PC screens, and some are much faster.

Maybe allow a long press to be the same as a right click?
How is it handled on a Macintosh where there is no right click?

tap the Director icon
tap the tournament name
a menu opens with options -> choose "substitute"
type the username of the player to replace and the username of the sub

I don't have a Mac so I havent seen this first hand, but as far as i understood, on Mac computers you can control-click (combo of keyboard and mouse) which acts as a right-click.

Apple hasn't made a single-button mouse in many years. Magic Mouse has right and left clicks. And if you're using a trackpad, you can configure different gestures to be right click (e.g. tap with 2 fingers).

And as Diana mentioned, control-click is also normally mapped to right click.

So is possible, just convoluted.
I suggest a long press to sub.
