The bidding has shown to be 5-2, therefore after the 2nd round of , I couldn't take any chance which could give a lead to LHO. However, I couldn't make the contract but all other tables made 3NT. Where was my fault?

On that defense, how about ducking the second heart? Now you have an extra heart stopper which makes life easy.

After that, why open up your club suit to the defense? This just gives them free tricks (and a potential club entry to the hearts, though luckily it was East that had the queen).

And despite all that, "finessing" the diamond after West shows out is giving up, as you could still make by playing the queen.

After I play my suit what should I have done to return to hand for a second finesse? I didn't know the bidder had a singleton yet at that point, and if he got the K he would run the .

I bid 3NT thinking that they would always lead the bid suit, but they ended up finding our weak suit to lead. The contract is makeable double dummy after they make the opening lead, but is it possible to do so in practice? They didn't disclose the 2-7 break in clubs in the bidding.

Big hint: Holdup play in clubs

If clubs break 5-4, or either red ace is with the long clubs, it doesn't matter; you're going down.

You can either play so that you certainly lose, or you can play so that you will win if you're lucky. You might as well hope for the best and make the play that will work in that case.
