Having had so many problems with 2 club openings I opened this 1 diamond
Some pre-empted in anything from 3 to 6
5 or 6 were my alternative options

The traveller showed chaos

You can argue almost that a jump to slam would still be a good bet and not too risky
But it needs to be the right slam to give us a good chance

When you have 3 four cards, the hand is played in the suit that contains 2 four cards.

But what do you mean

How do you bid that hand accurately and safely with GiB to get to the right contract

A lot of people preempted in 5 or even 6

I wanted to bid 2clubs but have had some bad experiences with distributional hands and GiB jumping to slams, sometimes the wrong one

The crazy thing is if you are not careful the stupid bot found what it thought was a club fit and kept over bidding diamond contracts right up to 7 clubs. It only had 3 clubs

I'm sorry, with freak hands like this there is no "correct" bid. Anything could work, preempting on the 3/4/5/6 level? Sure could work out great. 1 could too. 2 might sometimes work. I've experimented with two-under preempts that could ALSO contain strong 3- loser 1/2 suiters. They work great and would be the perfect answer on this hand. BUT, a lot of strain on memory and quite complex combined with very low frequency of occurrence. So we decided to stop with it.

What I would say and jokingly tried to say is when you have an 8 card (or longer) that is the suit you ARE going to play, not the four card even if partner has a four card too. You'll never lose trump control no matter how bad they break. And it wouldn't be the first time the opponents let you make 3/4 clubs due to discarding the wrong cards after you ruff the lead and kept on pumping . This is a one-suiter, not a two suiter.

Yes quite a few made the mistake of even mentioning clubs lol

I don't remember what it makes DD but you had to just go to 5 or 6 somehow
