Hello. Has anyone tried notifying Bridgebase about a member death? Not sure if it even hurts them to have an orphaned handle.

No I did not. But I would say it'd be quite risky to act upon third party notification of deceased members.

I wouldn't like to lose my account after blundering a slam or something else that offends others...

John Sr. really died. I think you’re implying that someone could be mad at a partner for blowing an important contract and the means to express that is to tell the organization that they died.

People on BBO do crazy things all the time. Like opening the bidding with 7NT on a random hand, redoubling after getting doubled, and then conceding all 13 tricks, just because they are angry. Or stalking players and sending harassing messages.

As to your original comment, there are basically an unlimited number of IDs available for the number of potential BBO users, so there's no need to reuse user IDs. And it could be confusing if the reused ID was well known to other BBO players, so better to just permanently retire those IDs.

I have the personal sorrow to have at least three accounts on my friends list who will never log in again on this earth. They're still there, though.

No need to worry, unless there's BB$ credit that they will allow recovery of (which they may not).
