Yeah, now that you mention it, Frick and Frack COULD have "defended" better on this one too!

East makes FOUR consecutive doubles. The first two are fine and normal in the GIBBO system, but the third double (the one of 3H) is beating a dead horse, and the fourth one didn't exactly work out so great, did it?

OMARHEUM has contributed another hand. He writes "The definition of 4H conflicts with the definitions of 2H and 3H. Furthermore, North decides his hand is worth THREE bids."

My comments:

Exactly right, OMAR. Let me take a wild guess: Your "partner" was a GIBBO robot.

Well, of course he was. Maybe it was Johnny Halfwit, maybe Donald J. Dumbo, maybe Sylvester Balboa, maybe Frick, or maybe Frack...but it was obviously one of those dimwits.

2H was normal. 3H - fair enough, it's matchpoints, so he's competing, but FOUR hearts was NOT too bright! Decent defence by NS would have beaten the EW 3S contract TWO tricks VULNERABLE for plus 200 NS even if they didn't double. Instead, thanks to Johnny (?), Donnie (?), Sly (?), Frick (?), Frack (?), or WHICHEVER GIBBO robot was in the North, NS ended up with a MINUS score in 4H.

Note that WEST also overdid things with his 3S call, bidding the suit for the SECOND time, at the THREE level, and "promising", according to his own GIB definition "3+ spades" even though his spades were J2 doubleton.

BTW, the pathetic GIB definition of 4H ludicrously claims that it shows "9+ HCP" and "9- total points". No, NO, NO, GIB! As usual, you are advertising your monumental ignorance, because (sigh, here we go AGAIN), high-card points can be less than or equal to "total" points, but they CANNOT be greater. "Total" points BEGIN with a base equal to the HCP and then if circumstances merit, additional points can sometimes be ADDED to that existing BASE of HCP. You have it BACKWARDS, clown! Go back to bridge school, GIBBO, because you know almost NOTHING about the game.
