Hi all,
Having been suffering with eye problems for the last few months which have severely limited my ability to use BBO without browser add ons to fix things, can someone give an idea of how hard it would be to:
a) Incorporate a dark mode option to the site in general so there is less blinding white everywhere
b) Option to invert the cards, i.e. the bulk of the ace of hearts is red and it is the A and heart symbol that is white
c) Four colour deck, so that diamonds/clubs are blue/green respectively for much easier distinction between suits
The last two have been options in other similar card game products for maybe 20 years and seem like very simple palette swaps of existing things in the software. The first might be a bit more work but surely not excessively difficult?

Hello: I merged the duplicate topic starts.
Re: requests: know that I do not work for BBO and have no access, but:
I know, I'm dumping everything back into your lap, but I expect this is a niche enough ask that BBO will always have higher priorities to work on. But again, *I don't work for BBO* so I'm guessing as much as you are...
Re: requests: know that I do not work for BBO and have no access, but:
- There are browsers and extensions that "force dark mode" everywhere, that should work (sorry, haven't tried this one specifically, as I only use this on my phone)
- I bet you have already looked at stylish or the like for custom JavaScript to maybe do what you're asking (specifically with the 4-colour). But if not, and you understand CSS/Javascript, ?
- I thought the suits were (subtly) four-colour already - but you know, subtle doesn't work here.
- Have you tried hand diagram mode? I hate it, but it does *clearly* solve your "4-colour" issues, and only the card index is present, so it should improve readability. Also, you can make those indexes much larger than with the "cards" mode.
I know, I'm dumping everything back into your lap, but I expect this is a niche enough ask that BBO will always have higher priorities to work on. But again, *I don't work for BBO* so I'm guessing as much as you are...

Does sound to me like Hand Diagram mode would solve all these issues. I have only minor sight problems but much prefer it anyway, for a whole host of reasons.

There is an browser extension dedicated to visually impaired players : https://chromewebsto...lgaenphlcdjkbcm
"BBO Visual Assist
Assists visually challenged users to play Bridge on the BBO (BridgeBase Online) website by:
1. Supporting voice commands and keyboard shortcuts.
2. Reading cards, bids, score etc. under the mouse cursor.
3. Reading chat messages and other unsolicited messages
4. Introducing each board, the vulnerability, and the dealer.
5. Giving a brief description of your hand and dummys.
6. Describing actions such as bids, cards played, alerts and claims."
The BBOalert extension (https://chromewebsto...lkeemegdhehnlcf) offers additional features, including:

We have also had other useful discussions in the past about use of BBO by the visually impaired.
Maybe some moderator could create an appropriate forum and move this and other relevant discussions there, this is a socially important issue.
