ok, here we are at a table, doing quite well at a tourney with a pick up p, we seem to be getting across well with each other, 2diamonds I alerted as a game force.

I was responder, the bid I am most interested in was 4 hearts the rest I would like you opinions on as to the way we bid it

Scoring: IMP

 2    Pass  2    Pass
 2    Pass  2    Pass

The trouble starts with 2NT. 3C is much better - it shows the 6-5 hand.

3H is also a problem - it tends to show 7 or a very good 6.

4H isn't good, but is excusable in light of pd's misbidding.

Hi,

assuming 2D is fourth suit forcing, and you have agreed
to play something like SA, 2D does not show a diamond
suit, it asks for a stopper, ... and whatever you think how
a stopper looks like, West does not have one ...
=> Therefore 2NT is no option, a direct 3C bid after 2D
shows 6-5.

Another point: 3D is better than 2D, because it shows a game
forcing two suiter, West will bid 3NT, ugly, but what else, and
East will bid 4S.

With kind regards

1H-1S
2C-2D
2H-2S

was a fine start. West hasn't shown extra club length so should do so now with a 3C bid. East hasn't shown real diamonds, so can bid 3D. West, still not wanting to bid NT, can try 3H strongly suggesting playing either hearts or clubs. East would rebid 3S to show the same thing. West probably will bid a grudging 3N (?) and East a grudging pass. So...

1H-1S
2C-2D
2H-2S
3C-3D
3H-3S
3N

On your auction, I would pass 3N and hope the diamonds run and you take 4 more tricks somewhere else.

Not much too this except that it shows fit is more important that HCP most of the time. Might be a little better this way.

1H-1S
2C-2D
3C-3D
3H-3S
4D-P

The final pass could only be allowed if discussed that the 4th suit is forcing only to 3N or 4 of a minor.

I agree totally with Justin's auction.

Contrary to some others I believe the meaning of the your bids in this auction are:

1H - 1S
2C - 2D
2H (shows minimum, no diamond stop, no 3-card spade, may only be 5-4 or 5-5) - 2S
3C (shows 5 clubs, probably no 1/2 diamond stop, may still only be 5-5) - 3D
3H (shows at least 6 hearts, no desire to play 3NT) - 3S
3NT (ok, you forced me!) - Pass
