Local pairs. We bid 4 card suits up the line so 1♥ can be 4. 2♠ can be 3 or 4 spades but partner does not like to bid 2♠ without 4. 3♣ now would be help suit game try.
Is slam likely? How do I find out?

Slam is certainly possible, I'd bid 4D (splinter) and if partner bids 4H then I bid 5D (showing first round control in diamonds). I will respect any sign off by partner.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Yes I would have bid 4♦ if it was either splinter or cuebid, but none of these were agreed so not available.
