Am I simply overlooking something? I can't find anywhere in my profile to put my real name. I can find fields for webpage, yahoo name, DOB, location...just about everything except actual name.

You could put it in your signature and have it autopost at the end of all your responses.

Hmm...maybe I should do that.

I clicked those two things and see nothing that says "custom member title". I even used the browser search function and it can't find "custom" either.

Hmmm...I don't have that line either. Perhaps it's something that's enabled after some number of posts made.

I can't quite make out what it says in your image, but that area of the screen says:

Welcome to your control panel
Your personal profile, this section is optional
Your Date of Birth
Your website url
Your ICQ UIN
Your AOL identity
Your Yahoo identity

etc.

when I make those two clicks.

Oh wow, ok I added a custom tilte of "balla" and that replaced the standard ones... Guess some people don't have it. On most forums this kind of thing is controlled by the mods.

Since I don't know why they'd be manually editing people's permissions, and we already know that the title changes based on the # of posts you've made (your little hand under your name, which Justin has changed to balla), I'm laying odds it's just a change that happens when you've made a certain # of posts...if I had to guess from looking at the posts here, and who has this option and who doesn't, I'd say around 2500.

This kind of "reward system" is not uncommon for web-forums.

TimG--Click on the little picture Justin posted and it will open a new window/tab showing a larger, readable picture.

Never mind, got it working. (Something about turning images off, I clicked on the address, not the link, which somehow made a difference.) Anyway, just confirmed that I do not have the field option.

My original point may have been lost in all of this: it would be nice to be able to put a real name in a user's profile.
