Double.   Hopefully we play this as penalty since all suits have been bid. I don't expect to have an 8 card spade fit very often, also don't expect to be bidding a game. If they make 2X (and I don't think they will) it is no disaster. On the other hand 500 against a partscore is quite possible.

The problem might come if LHO corrects to 2 and partner doubles. I plan to pass 2X - partner, after all, should have 4 hearts to double.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

Did I show 5 spades with around 9 HCPS with my first bid?

In my partnership I had and I have nothing to add, no particular shape, no extra trump, no great clubs, so easy pass.
Kind Regards

Roland

RHO is bidding red vs white, I don't think we will get 500. In fact, I don't see why we should be beating this at all. Give partner Ax Axx KQJxx xxx (extras with defense) and they are making with an overtrick if RHO is 5-5.

I pass. If partner has some hands with five diamonds he might balance 2 (cherdano example type hand, though that is 1NT opener), otherwise I have nothing to say.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

X

Double for me would be of the balance of power variety, claiming the hand with no clear direction.

Pass. RHO bid at unfavorable, and I have very few values in either of his suits. This might go down 1, but I would be very surprised to collect 500.

Someone has to argue the case for 2! I choose this bid because I've already shown the spades and partner is short, so he has a good chance of 5 diamonds. 2 may be making, and 2 is either making or a good save. I can't expect partner to reopen them on a 5 card suit.

Pass, since I haven't got anything particular to tell now.
Kind regards,
