I find it somewhat amazing that in America knowledge and academic or professional achievement are drawbacks to a political career.
I mean, don't you want someone relatively smart, capable of independent thought and able to surround himself with good advisors/good people running the country?

You might think so, but intelligence brings ethics and morals and....weakness.

Even the best swimmer doesn't stand a chance when swimming with sharks.
The Grand Design, reflected in the face of Chaos...it's a fluke!

I think that North-Americans and many Europeens are living in a unnoticed golden age. Life expectancy, quality of life, time for education, arts and leisure has simply exploded. Computers, travels, cars, modern medecine are things that where dreams 100 years ago.

The problems is that it may not last. So if it goes badly, in a few century they will look at our era as a "modern" golden age.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."
