In the newest Polish club version (Jassem, WJ2005 manual), jump in new suit is defined as fulfilling several conditions
-- natural
-- very good color, typicaly at least six cards, a color that can be run with minimum partner support - just singleton Q, K, A (i.e. KQJ10xx, AQJ10xx etc.)
-- fairly strong game forcing hand with reasonable slam chances.
All the examples given in Jassem's book represent pretty nice hands of something like 16 points equivalent etc.
I had the following hand a couple of days ago
xxx---AKJxxxx---Ax---x
and bid 2H after my partner's opening 1D. Do you think that it is a correct call in WJ2005?
My partner rebid was 3 clubs and I bid 4H then. Do you think that it is a correct call?

It doesn't seem to say what 2M...4M jump means in the book.
The book suggests a jumpshift should be to:
a) set the suit for RKC/cues (nope, suit is not good enough)
b ) ask partner for a control-rich hand (might get too high without a side trick source and misfit)
c) show a strong hand without getting past game (possibly yes)
d) show a strong 6-4 hand (nope)
The example of c) in the book is 1H-3C on AQ x Axx AQTxxxx, which is like your hand but stronger.
Can 1D-1H work any better? I think so. You can sniff at slam in certain sequences like 1D-1H-2H, 1D-1H-2D, or if partner shows an unbalanced 3fit. Most sniffing is impossible with a strong jump shift, but at the table I would understand that 1D-2H-2N-4H is very unlikely to have slam.

I don't play Polish Club, but from your description I would think the answers are yes, and maybe. Although I suspect you're going to find partner with a minor two suiter and a stiff heart (not the queen). It depends what 3H would mean at this point.

Hm, I don't think the hand is worth a jump-shift per WJ2005.... I might bid 1H and over the 2C response go through FSF and then rebid the suit... The hand does not have very serious slam interest opposite 12-17, especially not with values wasted in clubs... After the jump-shift, I think I agree with the 4H rebid. 3H would set hearts as trumps and ask for control cues.
