This just in: What Has 132 Rooms and Flies?

Quote

WASHINGTON — The White House is bugged!

No, not like that. But actual flies are swarming the place, confounding housekeepers, irritating aides, even trying to feast on the president. During an East Room interview with John Harwood of CNBC and The New York Times on Tuesday, a giant fly orbited Mr. Obama’s head.

“I got the sucker,” the president boasted after fatally slapping the critter on the back of his hand.

That scene became an instant YouTube sensation — and resulted in a complaint from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Just goes to show how far removed PETA are from reality.
Still decidedly intermediate - don't take my guesses as authoritative.

The Times made it a front page story and gave it one and a half page, including a half-page photo.

Agree with Lynn, nice to see that all serious problems have been solved so we can concentrate on flies and cucumbers.

I don't think I even want to know what Obama did with the cucumber. :)

This is another example of nefarious White House staging of a photo op. A reliable source informs me that the fly was drugged so that Mr. Obama could easily swat him and pretend to be a great defender of national safety. I am sure that if George Bush had swatted a fly the liberal media would never have accepted such an event at face value. Fox News will soon be presenting a fair and balanced expose of this supposed spontaneous SWAT operation.

actually it goes deeper than that... obamba used the fly to send a message to n. korea (who is threatening a missle launch in the direction of hawaii)... he is saying, "even though i'm accused of being a cream puff, in reality i'm a cold-blooded, ruthless, calculating killer - tread lightly commie bastard"

I guess you're all making fun of this, but this could actually be true. It might be a 'diplomatic' move, question is, is it directed to North Korea (your missiles are flies we can swat) or to Iran (your regime is a fly we'd love to swat)?

Conspiracy theory at its best, but you just never know...

once you get past the first bit, the main comments have to do with the degree of tv coverage Obama gets, although nothing to do with the actual fly episode.

Luke warm

After the interview ended, he said "I clean up after myself", and cleaned up the dead fly.

This president leaves no stone untouched. He's a self reliant, detail oriented person.

I thought this was a really funny episode. Nice break in all the recent tension.

The next day, he had a fly buzzing around his head as he read the morning paper, but there were no cameras, so he just yelled, "Who left the fuckin' screen door open?!"

George W Bush was less than impressed, it is reported. "Fly? Schfly! Let's see him dodge a shoe"
