3C for me - mainly because it takes away opps' 2M bids. Can always bring spades in later if partner shows up with something.

"Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say."

So hate Flannery.
3C. Partner knows to show his Major
if at all reasonable. Then 4M on.
Partner sees Clubs for source of tricks if he has D-stop(s).

Wishful thinking. Axxxx xxx xxx xx gives excellent game and partner won't "know" to show his major.

Partner will also frequently bid 3N with a major and diamonds stopped

3 against most opponents. I feel comfortable doubling both 3 and 4 on the next round.

Double would only come into consideration vs opponents I suspect could give me problems with a 5 raise. And only if they are "non-purists".

Another problem with X is, that I would feel compelled to raise 2 to 3, which is a bit of a stretch.

Are you prepared to bid 4 if LHO bids 4? No? Then dbl.

This is in general a good principle, but you can't follow it blindly. This hand needs some thinking ahead.

What if I am prepared to double 4?

MP 3c
IMP X

At MP there is no great need to search for sketchy game
contracts and our hand is no great shakes for defending
2d X. 3c will miss out on some hard to bid and low % major
suit games but wont often yield a zero if the opps can make
2d x. If the bidding goes 2d 3c 3/4d I can now back in
with x with much more comfort.

IMPS reaching difficult games is VERY important and x
is clearly the most flexible in that department. I
would have zero problems raising 2s to 3s. If P
leaves the x in and it makes it is probably not a
huge loss (if opps make 2/3) since it is unlikely
we have a game.

Double in a long match.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Maybe it will because we are raising spades and even if we will stop in 3 still spades partial >>>> clubs partial.
