All red, you receive:

Do you agree with 3NT? What hand do you picture your partner having? What's your call now?

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

No i dont agree with 3 Nt, hand is too strong and so is my shape. And look what happened, prd bid 5 . Now im guessing what is right; since 4 would have been forcing too IMO, 5 must promise at least six card suit and wheter or not prd hopes that i have K of slam must have some possibilities so i will bid it, 6 .

Even though a diamond ruff seems impossible, I think I'd stick to my gut feeling of 6NT.

I am ok with 3NT. Would probably have doubled but w/e.

Now I pass. Yes I have 20 points but beyond that my hand is not that great for a club slam and 5 is not encouraging.

If u hv some choices to bid,3N is one of them bid 3N wd be the best.
For this hand u hv three choices probably:3\DBL\3N.obviously PD almost doesnt hv stopper,if u bid 3 or DBL,PD wd bid something over 3N.
It's not easy to decide which bid wd be the best after 5. 6?7?6N?PASS?

I agree with 3NT.

I can't see what double is supposed to achieve, or what you're going to bid on the next round. dbl-3-3NT shows a flexible hand, suggesting 3-card heart support and a single diamond stop. Dbl-3-3 will never get us to 3NT and may not get us to game. Dbl-4-4 also doesn't get us to 3NT.

When partner bids 5 opposite my 3NT, I pass. If he had AQxxxx, he would pass 3NT. 5 is likely to be a long, topless suit without a side entry, that is a hand which he thinks will be useless in 3NT. eg x Jxxx x QJ10xxxx or x Jxx x QJ10xxxxx.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

It's a bit heavy for 3NT but I'd like a 6th spade to double then bid spades. Perhaps you could double and bid NT, but you're probably still going to end up in 5C by the sound of it. I pass 5C - it's a weak bid, so if you bid 6 you may well be off two cashing aces (if the other diamonds are 1-1).

I think you have to pass 5. Yes 6 may well make if either partner or leader is void in diamonds, but QJ to lots clubs is his most likely holding. I have no problems with the 3N bid.

Contrast <3D> 3N
4C. Then slamming.
With <3D> 3N
5C.
Did partner have an option to differentiate his choice?

3N very reasonable call and probably best btn
x 3s 3n

after 5c have to PASS. p did not pull from 3n
lightly and I would not be surprised to see
a hand similar to xx xx x Qxxxxxxx.
xx xx x Axxxxxxx would be good enough
to bid 4c and try for slam.

- I agree with 3 NT

-Passing 5 or bidding on totally depends on the style of 5 bidder. When i first joined to forums i argued 2 similar hands for passing, because in my style 5 means "pd if u have everything i need maybe we can make it and in 3 NT my hand is trickless" However when i asked to some very good players, majority of them plays such 5 minor jumps contructive.

So if your pd is someone like me pass, if your pd is a believer of "no gambling 5 minor bids except than saving" then i think you could bid on with this.

I second that and also agree with the original 3NT.

Even if partner had xx Kxxx x AQxxxx, you would need trumps to break 3=2 (with LHO having three).

3Nt/pass

3Nt can be bid quite heavy so i have extras but nothing to get excited. Partner bid is really not foward going. Hes mostly saying taht from his side 5C look better tahn 3Nt thats all.

Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."
