5 letters? This really is going to be mind-blowing!

Or maybe just very British.

Or maybe the censor program converts a four letter word that starts with "S" into five asterisks.

PhilKing for Newcomer of the Year (assuming that "newcomer" means "newcomer to the Forums", rather than "newcomer to bridge").
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Sorry Justin, 2 years too late so I think the nomination is disqualified on a technicality.

Gnasher for poster of the year. His overall body of work has been extremely insightful and he's a frequent contributor.

I think it is clear that all 4 of our "500 Club" members - JLOGIC, gnasher, han and gwnn - should be nominated. In addition, mikeh, lalldonn and Phil have all given plenty of high quality content, as always. For Newcomer, lalldonn (does a new ID count?), PhilKing and SteveMoe are obvious candidates. For Most Helpful, awm and gwnn are probably top of the list, although there are so many possibilities here it is difficult to pick out a small group (practically any of the 8 other names mentioned above would also fit here).

Finally, I would like to propose a Special Award this year for MrAce and mgoetze for the efforts they have made in arranging and promoting the jec matches, surely one of the BBF Highlights of the Year.

What is the 500 club? I think lalldonn should clearly not count as a newcomer, seems against the spirit of the thing, I think josh would agree.

Have there really not been any nominations for Real World yet? I seem to recall Justin and Frances having a couple of decent results earlier in the year so let's at least put them up. This is a tricky category though, since I do not know who most of the posters are irl, let alone have the ability to follow results in different countries. For example, I think Fluffy made it to the BB but I am not sure. If he did then this is a pretty big achievement from a country like Spain and also deserves a nomination.

One other point from your summary. Statto was nominated as Best Newcomer last year so I would not think he is eligible in 2012. Is there a defined cut-off point for this category?
