Well, open 2C. Who knows, maybe pard replies 2S :)

You can always blast 6H later on, so for now you can go slow.

after 1 LHO bids 2NT and partner doubles, after 2 I think LHO will also bid 2NT for the minors and partner will again double

2 (2NT) X (pass?)
3

Does partners double just show points or does he show the ability to give a penalty double of a minor?
In the later case I would stop at 4 if I hear no further encouragement from partner. In the first case, I will try 6. If partner shows spades, I would look for 7 if possible, else stop in six of a major, without yet knowing which to pick.

I take it that dbl of 2NT is penalty-seeking. If so, I'll just bid 4H now. It's normal to find pard with a spade honor, but that might be the best he has there. The hand has devaluated and I'll bid accordingly. This isn't very scientific, but you can't have it all after a pree.

I think so too, so I'll pass for penalty before bidding 4.

if you pass 2NT X LHO bids 3 and partner doubles

if you bid 3 partner bids 3NT

if you bid 4 auto-splinter partner will bid 4

I think I can now bid 3 and it should be GF setting trumps (I started with 1), but I wouldn't be confident of that with any partnership, so I'd probably bid 4.

so here is the final results, the hand was had dealt at the club:

LHO is 2056, partner is 2074, RHO is 5512

If you play 3X there are 6 unavoidable losers for declarer, +300 is almost a top

If you bid 4 you go down 2 for a good score 60-70%

If you play 6 with this particular opponent you go down 4 undoubled wich is a poor score anyway of around 25%.

It would never occur to me to stop below six, if my partner doubled 2NT over 1.
I admit I am firmly in the 2 camp, but having opened 1 with a reasonable partner I would auto splinter with 4, followed up by 5 over 4 and finally 5 over 5.
Maybe partner can bid 7 (unlikely though after 1).

I think your 4 bid when you have ten tricks in hand should get the Ayatollah reward for courageous bidding.

This really is too much for 1. Open 2 and see what's up.

Don't we get to see more of what's up by opening 1?

I'm never stopping short of 4 tho, and I'll take my 60-70% for going 2 off B-)

Maybe, but partner will never know what's up if we never tell him. When I said "see what's up" I just meant that 2 is a good start of the auction despite the problems that we probably will face next round. I did not mean to suggest we mastermind.
