I'd win in dummy and lead a diamond to the king. If both follow I am home. If RHO shows out then I'll play for 10xx of clubs with LHO. It's conceivable that people would double with Kxxx AKxxx - 10xxx, but queen-fourth of clubs must be more likely.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I take it it's a small spade led, not the K :D

My first thought is: take A to avoid any ruff shenanigans, then cash the AK, then the AK throwing a heart. If the diamonds split, the defence can cash their K and a heart, but that's it.

So the problem must come in the form of a 3-0 diamond break... which means you need to get rid of the 2nd heart loser fast. Win the A, play to K, cash A and ruff one, cross to DA, cash CK and pray looks about the only shot due to lack of entries.

Must still be missing something? Taking the finesse on the first trick is asking for disaster.

Edit: I see the cross-post. Seems there are different ways one could guess clubs and playing for 10xx in west isn't a bad idea by any means.

Right! When RHO shows out on the diamond (not unlikely as there's about 12 non-diamond points out there), his shape is very likely 5404 or 4504.

At the table I confess I played A, too quickly and I could not recover.

The lead to the K first works as a nice discovery play. It creates the urgency of setting up clubs and also points to the neccessity of Txx on your left.

Win with A, take 2 rounds of trumps finishing in hand. If trumps are 2-1 it is easy. If not, we can now try the finesse.

The club finesse into the doubler seems like a much lower % than the smother play through them.
