1. As the sequence 1 (2) is difficult to bid- do never blast.
2. As you have a club chicane, an off shape double from partner is likely- do never blast...

So, what to do? With my partner we play a kind of good bad 2 NT here, so that 3 would be forcing and obviously my choice. We should reach 6 from there...
Without this tool, I rate my hand a little too strong for 4 , so I would like to bid 5 , but as I have no idea, how partner will understand this, I will downgrade and bid just 4 . Over partners 5 I may bid 6, but I guess I will not at the able.
Kind Regards

Roland

A typical problem for the 1D - ( 2C ) - ?? .. you have enough points but not the right shape for a Neg-DBL .
Quite often Responder doesn't have have at least a 4-4 in the majors ( or even a 4-3 ) .
I've mentioned the following treatment before for Diam-Club auctions:
-- NEG-DBL guarantees 4 cards but "says nada about " .
-- bidding would show 4+ cards
-- bidding would show 5+ cards

1D - ( 2C ) - X - ( 2S )
3H - ( p ) - 4D - ( p )

Either don't double, or don't bid 6.

I quite like 6 rather than 6 which should be something like this.

Nothing, but if you're in the situation I guess the OP is in, that you haven't discussed it, what does it mean ? Singleton, void ? 6 screams 6+/4/0 to me particularly if 5N would be "pick a slam". Partner should bid the grand with KQ, Q, K, you can't need more than this.

IF you blast, id say blast 5NT, which would be :"Partner, i want to play slam but i don`t know which suit, show me prefence" or Pick-a-slam.

I really like a "bad 2NT" agreement, so 3 would be my bid. Without that, I am not sure it is forcing, so don't risk it. Maybe I bid 3, and over partner's 3 bid 3, which has to be forcing. If he bids 3NT I rebid 4.
