We play a weak NT and would normally open 5M332 1N, but with a hand like this, I'll bid as if I have 6.

1-2(not GF)
2-3
3-4(KC)
5(2 with)-5N (anything else)
6(no)

Size and shape people might have an easy go. After Responder shows a club suit and gets into a quantitative NT sequence, opener will accept with her solid hearts and the Jack of clubs.

Our auction:

1 - 2 (GF)
2 (various hands) - 2 (ask)
3 (5332) - 3 (ask)
3N (5-3-3-2)

At this point responder might just give up because opener's range is 10-13 and the hands don't seem to mesh well.

If North upgrades and opens the hand with 1N (14 - 16), the response to the 2 size ask will be 2N, showing a minimum and responder will likely sign off in 3N as well.

appreciate all these auctions but is W not gonna come in with a pre-emptive spade bid?

If he does, after the 2C response, it will probably help all the N/S pairs who were headed for a torturous auction.

North could just rebid 2NT; then comes 4N and 6NT. Responder isn't asking how great the spade stopper is, so North shouldn't fret.

If they rebid hearts due to the quality (at some point) or pass initially cause of the crappy hand outside of hearts I wouldn't blame them and you might be dead in the water.

I don't think S should bid 3, a suit that his pd denied.

3NT shows a min hand by N

4NT invitation

6NT (or 6) is debatable but imo N has tricks to offer and should accept invitation after he tried to sign off in 3NT.

EDIT: The auction i gave assumed the system is 2/1
"Genius has its own limitations, however stupidity has no such boundaries!"

"Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say."

Depends on your system, if 2/1 not GF, 2N is NF so you perforce bid 3.
