Goes to show that it is a bidder's game.

I agree with S's action of 1N (assuming it was a 1 round force). You want to get to 2 if you can, while gently dissuading the opps from bidding by showing a modicum of strength. Raising hearts right away is far too risky.

If you are EW at this table, then E did well not to double 3 and, otherwise, it's just one of those things. But if you were South at the other table, maybe next time you'll bid. Of course, then partner might get you too high, but life's a risk. The point is that S has 3 hearts, and a King and nice shape, so you really don't want to give the opps a free ride. And I'm a notorious underbidder, according to many :P
