just 5. partner seems odds on to have 0 aces and there's the 4th spade to worry about.

5♦ Partner has a bid. He won't bid 6 with one ace, but will surely bid 6 with two.

5♦. Along the lines of what wank said - even if partner has an ace (even the spade ace!), there is still the issue of the 4th spade.

And, as mason said, 5♦ does not necessarily end the auction.

4NT and convert 5♣ to 5♦, showing a one-suited slam try.

On real life 5♦ looks like enough, but Andy is right, if we can invite with 4NT we should. I don't plan on selling to 5♥ anyway.

5D sounds right; I'm not punting slams at IMPs.

In the other room they doubled and reached a making slam. I did not think double was right, with one downside that partner might pass with scattered balanced values. I agreed with wank about the chances of partner having an ace and the possible spade loser anyway.
