el mister accepted my challenge yesterday. I played it out, waiting for him to complete. And with this I'm done.

Same here (I think).

Everyone:

Please please do not wait until the last day of the challenge if your opponent did not accept. Make sure that you cancel and resend before you log off.

What good is this going to do? If they dont respond they dont respond.

But if they do respond just before the expiry, the expiry date doesn't change, so *you* may be the one who doesn't complete the challenge in time.

We're really going to have to have some better rules regarding all these people who don't respond - very frustrating.

crazy4hoop vs. el mister: 5-5
http://webutil.bridg...89&u=crazy4hoop

I think that this challenge simply expired since I got 50% on each board and none of my opponents' scores are listed. Did el mister drop out or do I just need to reissue the challenge?

I don't think this should be re-issued. The challenge expired, but once your opp accepted the challenge he committed to completing it too. You played your set, he didn't so he's disqualified IMO. If he couldn't play he shd have rejected and re-issue when convenient.

Unless you're mutual friends, in which case it's more complicated since he can't reject and might not even be aware there's a challenge pending for him.

This will protect you against the scenario where your opponent basically accepts and plays within the last hour of the challenge and you are not around in that last hour.

Diana - el mister just played his game against me today, I don't know what exactly happened, but please do not speculate about "disqualification" and stuff.

Yes sorry. I was a bit annoyed bec I also have a match about to expire where I think I did very well and wd be upset to have it scored as 50-50. There is probably a rule for expired challenges, I am not sure what it is.

Isn't this a software bug basically? This makes no sense. If I challenge person X to play and he accepts in 3 days, I should also get 1-2 days after his/her accept of it. It's just a bad system.

@all: I will try to play from Thursday on. I didn't know it would go this fast (still 10 days and many people are done or almost done).
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Hi crazy4hoop - sry, don't know what happened there, I've not played it. I've been travelling so have only been squeezing a set in here and there, but I'm home now and thought I was good to play the outstanding challenges today - I have challenges from diana_eva and gqc6 that are still live, and thought I accepted yours at the same time. Anyhow, if you've played it and I let it expire after accepting than I am happy to take a penalty.

I've played Gordon_td, ovnclymyz, and frank. Will play diana, gqc6, and geraldo today, and then issue the remaining challenges.

pio_magic: you sent me a best hand challenge by accident and I accepted it by accident. I hope you are still here? We could play one just for fun (practice?).

We can also just destroy this one (for example, passing all the boards out or something stupid). But I don't want to destroy it from my side if you are not reading this, that would be unfair.

I think prasanna doesn't realize that this is going on, or doesn't understand how challenges work. I sent him a message asking when he's going to play our challenge, and he replied asking when it is.

I told him he can play any time, and everyone in the challenge event is waiting for him. I just sent him a link to the thread to remind him what I'm talking about.

I did indeed play it and I guess you let it expire but I do not see the need for you to take a penalty as all contestants were given until the 28th to complete the challenge. It's the program that expires the challenges after 3 days or so. I leave it to the community to decide how we should proceed.

@pio_magic: I "finished" my set by playing a bunch of 7NTxx-13 and results like this. (I also sent a PM on BBO to make sure you don't waste brain power on a challenge we can't use)

It seems this setup could be 'gamed'.

I issue a challenge. Someone accepts. They get a string of bad boards. They dont play the last board. Challenge expires. New ball game.

Another devious move. I crush the first two and are convinced they are giant plus boards. I sit out the last few and get 50% on these.

Issuing a new challenge doesnt really help. They can wait it out the same.

Thr only sensible solution is to count boards played in a partial challenge. Unplayed boards get scored as zero.
