Try not showing a slam try (and yes, that is the standard expert meaning in this auction)

agree about slam try manu. lead a spade they make it. lead diamond they down 2. on what basis to lead diamond and not spade ?

RHO is going to be short in spades and a diamond lead is relatively safe. The actual situation, where it gains you two tricks, is extreme but not totally unexpected.

good point sfi. i think we are too attuned to leading pards suit in real life which is why we do it.
in RAMBBO's case there is another slight negative inference. Sylvester GIBBOne comes into competitive auctions supporting pd's suit at 3 level when loaded in "their" suit.
