We're playing ACOL and East opens 1S. What do you bid as South, holding KJ92,A,A982,K865?
DBL says I can support any other suit bar spades,and 1NT says I'm balanced. Neither of which is true.
I passed, which allowed East to play in 1S for a top board.

Pass is normal, 1NT is also an acceptable alternative but will frequently land you in a poor hearts contract if partner has some length there. My guess is you just got unlucky on that particular board.

I would double with that hand - but we play unusual responses to handle off-shape doubles.
Ultra Relay: see Daniel's web page: https://bridgewithda...19/07/Ultra.pdf
C3: Copious Canape Club is still my favorite system. (Ultra upgraded, PM for notes)

Santa Fe Precision published 8/19. TOP3 published 11/20. Magic experiment (Science Modernized) with Lenzo. 2020: Jan Eric Larsson's Cottontail . 2020. BFUN (Bridge For the UNbalanced) 2021: Weiss Simplified (Canape & Relay). 2022: Canary Modernized, 2023-4: KOK Canape.

A straightforward X for me playing Power doubles and NT takeouts.

Playing standard I'm inclined to 1NT; I usually need extra strength when unbalanced, but KJ onside provides mitigation.

A straightforward pass for me. The next question is what did your partner hold to pass, and why was this a bottom board..

Many balanced hands of around 7 or 8 points will make 110/120 but not take 150 out of 1.

I would overcall 1N, but accept many will pass.

Nige1 used to award points:
1NT = 9
Pass = 8
2C/2D = 2
Dbl = 1

2NT both minors - has to be better than X if you correct after s?

Pass.

If you cant stand Pass, bid 1NT.

As it is, the hand has 15HCP, but there are better 15 counts out there.

If they are vul, Pass gets more attractive, -1 beats 1NT=.

With kind regards
