1X p 1Y p
1NT p p D
this could be
1. take out with both other suits but weaker then direct double
2. abit offshape double with good hand something like 12 hcp with 43 other suits
3. penalty with good holding in suit Y and maybe short in X
4. showing one of their suits and on of the other suits and a good hand.
All these has logic, what do you prefer ?

Double is very confusing in many auctions for me..
Luck has it....x here means
long minor or both majors for me(modified Dont)

If "X" is a minor and "Y" a major, I expect this delayed double to be "minors."
Even if "Y" is 1♦, I still expect "minors."
If both majors (1♥-P-1♠), now I expect one minor and spades.

"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

You could have made a takeout double on the previous round.

i think mike lawrence has this as one of those "long or short in y" doubles, leaving it for pard to guess which kind it is by looking at his hand
