Scoring: IMP

              p
1-p-2NT-3
p-5-p-p
x-p-5-p
p-6-x-end

1 is the systemic opening bid on 4-4 in the majors (Norwegian pair)

4 was the last making contract. Of course it's absurd to expect absolute DD precision but this still feels like too much.

Out of the 4 players who got too active?

To North 4 seems a making contract so bidding 5 seems necessary, but 6 is to much.

I am okay with the bidding till 5 , despite the fact that I had choosen some different bids.
But than:
East passed 5 and pulled the double to 5 . This is a massive overbid.

Silly rest edited due to Helenes observation:

Now, I like souths bidding and in a sense I do understands North 6 Diamond bid. They made a slam try, so 5 Heart is bound to make. 6 Diamond should be a cheap sacrifice with so much shape and so many surprises in the side suits.
I am really not sure what is right here in the long run. Maybe defending is a small price you have to pay.

South with a nearly balanced hand bids 6 after he heard the double of 5 ?

No it was North who bid 6.

bad luck. East did "well" to get the opponents to go for more of a phantom sac. I would've passed the X

Do you have the bidding correctly here?

If you were watching the same table as I did, I'm pretty sure east rebid 5 over 5.

I was watching Lavazza vs Erichsen, with Bocchi sitting north.
Kind regards,
Harald

Interesting, I was watching the same table and I'm pretty sure East passed and pulled :)

Does anyone have an archive somewhere?

Btw w/r I think north should overcall 2NT, and I think it's pretty clear.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Hi,

the 2NT bidder should X 5D, he does not want to invite 6H,
he does not even want to play 5H:
I can understand the 6D bidder, although he should wonder,
what the 3D hand looked like, be happy they got in and pass
it out

With kind regards
