Do I bid spades or diamonds first?


What should I bid next? Bid diamond and reverse in Spades or spades then diamonds?

I bid 2 ♣ to show spades and a red suit and rebid diamonds on my next turn if nothing special- like a jump in spade from partner, or a natural diamond bid on my left-happens...
If my religious beliefs or my bidding system does not allow this, I would bid diamonds first.

My method is to count my cards. I count the diamonds, and the total comes to seven. I count the spades and -- oops, only five. I count the hearts, and find only one :( . So I bid diamonds.
